NEW STATISTICS ADD-IN REPLACES DEDICATED STAND-ALONE PACKAGE
30 September 2004, Ithaca, NY - At Pace University 's Lubin School of Business, Palisade's StatTools is now the standard software used to teach statistics. Lubin's M.B.A. program has recently been rated 19 th in the country by U.S. News and World Report , and the use of StatTools by Lubin students will give continuing momentum to adoption of the statistics package by future leaders in the business world.
When the Lubin faculty decided to have its M.B.A. candidates do their quantitative work exclusively in Excel, StatTools went hand in hand with that decision. Lubin's Dr. Jack Yurkiewicz teaches a range of courses on quantitative methods, and for his statistics courses he had been using dedicated, stand-alone analysis software. Because it is generally acknowledged that Excel's native statistics are not robust enough to satisfy most statisticians, the faculty decision to standardize on Excel meant that Dr. Yurkiewicz needed not only a new textbook compatible with Excel but additional statistics software to extend Excel's functionality.
StatTools, bundled with Data Analysis and Decision Making with Microsoft Excel from Duxbury Press , made the perfect package. As a result of Dr. Yurkiewicz's selection, about two hundred Lubin students will use StatTools every year. When they receive their M.B.A.s and go into jobs in business, StatTools will very likely go to work with them.
Duxbury Press is a leading publisher of statistical and decision analysis textbooks for M.B.A. programs nationwide.
