Q: I see the message "Updating Macro References" on the Excel status bar when I open certain PrecisionTree models. What is this message, and what exactly is being updated?
A: In PrecisionTree 1.0.4, the location of the main add-in file, Ptree.xla, was changed. In PrecisionTree 1.0.3 and earlier, Ptree.xla was installed to a subdirectory of the Excel Library directory. Since Microsoft Office is moving away from supporting the Office Library, Ptree.xla is now stored in the main PrecisionTree directory.
If you open models created with earlier version of PrecisionTree, the macros that are attached to the PrecisionTree drawing objects will need to be updated to reflect this change in location. Usually, this will be done automatically when your model opens. If you have a very large PrecisionTree model, you may notice it takes a fair amount of time while PrecisionTree is "Updating Macro References." Once your model is saved again with the updated references, this update will not occur again. If you need to manually update a workbook, make it the active Excel workbook, and then run the macro PtreeUpdateMacroReferences (by choosing Excel's Tools Menu, Macro menu item).
